About the Role

This position assists the assistant superintendent I and superintendent in the day-to-day field construction activities on assigned jobsite.

Responsibilities

  • Review project documents, materials, manpower, and equipment needs.
  • Assist with jobsite layout planning and startup activities, including security, office placement, utilities, material storage, and equipment placement.
  • Direct field engineers in jobsite survey and layout, ensuring dimensional accuracy verified by third-party surveyors.
  • Plan daily and weekly craft activities, provide detailed schedule forecasts and technical instructions, and resolve plan ambiguities with project staff.
  • Manage overall jobsite safety, including implementing safety plans and procedures.
  • Order self-performed building materials, supplies, and small tools.
  • Inspect all field construction work, ensuring high-quality workmanship, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring corrections.
  • Provide technical guidance for construction problems, investigate alternative methods to improve efficiency and quality, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Monitor weekly labor costs, take corrective action for productivity, investigate schedule delays, and adjust resources as needed.
  • Monitor equipment use, maintenance, and cost throughout the project.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local construction laws, ordinances, and codes.
  • Manage scheduling of governmental inspections for certificate of occupancy.
  • Administer the company Safety & Health Manual, ensure employee health and safety, and address safety hazards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, and resolve problems through direct negotiation.
  • Perform project completion tasks, including close-out punch lists, demobilization, and as-built documents.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily reports of field construction activities.

Requirements

  • B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or related field, or 4 years of commercial construction trade experience.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (may obtain within first year).
