About the Role

This Federal Work Study position provides hands-on support for the Graphis100 exhibition, assisting with event logistics, setup, guest services, and on-site operations. The role contributes to a successful and engaging event experience for guests, students, and faculty, showcasing award-winning student artwork. It supports Federal Work-Study students' educational and vocational goals by offering experience in event planning and logistics, developing transferable professional skills like time management, collaboration, customer service, and adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Graphis exhibition.
  • Support event setup and breakdown, including signage, table setup, painting, and display installation.
  • Help install and deinstall artwork under staff guidance.
  • Assist with managing the gallery space, including opening and closing to visitors and monitoring for safety and organization.
  • Provide guest services, greeting guests and answering exhibition-related questions.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as guest attendance tracking and basic event documentation (photos), if requested.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisor and team members throughout all event phases.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed at least one semester of classes at ArtU.
  • Ability to travel to The Cannery for on-site work at 2801 Leavenworth.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting, squatting, standing for extended periods).
  • Flexible availability to support installation, deinstallation, and gallery monitoring.
  • Skilled with common office tools such as email and Microsoft Office (spreadsheets, word processing).
  • Prior retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Gallery or Docent experience preferred.
