About the Role

This role ensures staff supervision, support, and professional development in classroom management and school culture. As a member of the School Leadership team, this position fosters partnerships with families, community members, and external partners, collaborating closely with school leaders and instructional staff.

Responsibilities

  • Set and invest staff in a vision for a joyful, structured, and caring school environment.
  • Design and implement school-wide culture systems with staff and students, including entry, dismissal, transition, incentive systems, and community meetings.
  • Build restorative mindsets and capacity for staff, students, and community stakeholders to implement Restorative Practices (responses, conversations, talking circles, peace circles, peer conferences, re-entry circles, restorative conferences).
  • Ensure consistent implementation of research-based social emotional learning (SEL) and positive behavior interventions within a multi-tiered intervention framework.
  • Lead data collection and assessment to evaluate school climate initiatives, including service coordination, school-wide implementation, and stakeholder surveys.
  • Coordinate summer and academic year staff professional development in special education, English Language Learner instruction, and at-risk student services.
  • Support coaching and management of student services team managers.
  • Provide individual behavior climate coaching to identified teachers.
  • Facilitate professional development through thought-partnering, collaborative reflection, and planning.
  • Model, co-facilitate, and observe Restorative Practices and SEL implementation.
  • Consult school leadership and teams on developing and implementing systems for Restorative Practices and school culture topics.
  • Participate in student disciplinary meetings and coordinate peer mediation and restorative responses.
  • Provide crisis intervention support, including assessments, positive support plans, and parental notifications.
  • Collaborate with school social workers to oversee referrals for students needing social-emotional and behavior support and social services.
  • Engage the school community and caregivers by providing opportunities to discuss student growth and needs.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with corporations, civic groups, faith institutions, university groups, and other community groups to secure volunteers and resources.
  • Perform other duties as outlined by the School Principal.
  • Further anti-racism, equity, and racial justice, expecting stakeholder participation to create a future without limits for students.
  • Comply with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Adhere to organization policies and procedures, promoting and supporting the mission, vision, and values, including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in education or related fields.
  • Previous experience in a School Leadership role.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
  • Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use fingers to type, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop/bend and reach, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear.
  • Dexterity for writing and operating standard office machines (computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, phones, calculators).
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.
