About the Role
This co-op placement offers an excellent opportunity to apply classroom and technical training in the insurance industry. You will be coached by experienced professionals, exposed to leadership, and challenged as a valuable team member, contributing meaningful work and developing a solid foundation for future leadership. You will work closely with underwriters and other key individuals in the Toronto office, supporting Temple Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Munich Re.
Responsibilities
- Setup new business for Casualty and Property Corporate underwriters
- Prepare loss runs
- Assist with file completeness audits
- Prepare quotes and binders
- Support underwriters in analyzing client submissions
- Request account information and follow-up for missing details
- Attend luncheons with corporate underwriters and clients
- Conduct research for client events and promotional materials/products
- Prepare reports in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint formats
- Assist department underwriters and managers as required
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Commerce, or an equivalent program, with a focus on insurance and in healthy academic standing
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, for formal and informal presentations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Solid organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail/accuracy in a fast-paced environment, particularly in data entry
- Proven capability to multi-task and successfully self-manage multiple priorities and projects
- Effective working both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrates leadership qualities including clear-thinking, curiosity, integrity, and drive
- Preference for candidates with relevant work experience, having completed at least one placement (approximately 4+ months in-field experience)
- Expected to relocate to the city of work for the duration of the co-op/internship
- Legally entitled to work in Canada for the entire duration of the co-op work term
- Open to current students returning to in-class studies or recent graduates who obtained their degree within the past year
