About the Role

This co-op placement offers an excellent opportunity to apply classroom and technical training in the insurance industry. You will be coached by experienced professionals, exposed to leadership, and challenged as a valuable team member, contributing meaningful work and developing a solid foundation for future leadership. You will work closely with underwriters and other key individuals in the Toronto office, supporting Temple Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Munich Re.

Responsibilities

  • Setup new business for Casualty and Property Corporate underwriters
  • Prepare loss runs
  • Assist with file completeness audits
  • Prepare quotes and binders
  • Support underwriters in analyzing client submissions
  • Request account information and follow-up for missing details
  • Attend luncheons with corporate underwriters and clients
  • Conduct research for client events and promotional materials/products
  • Prepare reports in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint formats
  • Assist department underwriters and managers as required

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Commerce, or an equivalent program, with a focus on insurance and in healthy academic standing
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, for formal and informal presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Solid organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail/accuracy in a fast-paced environment, particularly in data entry
  • Proven capability to multi-task and successfully self-manage multiple priorities and projects
  • Effective working both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities including clear-thinking, curiosity, integrity, and drive
  • Preference for candidates with relevant work experience, having completed at least one placement (approximately 4+ months in-field experience)
  • Expected to relocate to the city of work for the duration of the co-op/internship
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada for the entire duration of the co-op work term
  • Open to current students returning to in-class studies or recent graduates who obtained their degree within the past year
