About the Role

Support the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) mission by administering the nation’s lawful immigration system as a Biometric Technician. This on-call (casual) position assists USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) operations in Hauppauge, NY, providing substitute coverage Monday through Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm. Hours are not guaranteed, making it ideal for flexible candidates seeking supplemental income.

Responsibilities

  • Complete biometrics registration for legal immigration applicants.
  • Ensure only approved applicants and visitors enter the ASC.
  • Provide interior and exterior crowd control, enforcing ASC rules and policies.
  • Deliver front-line customer service as a representative of Amentum and the U.S. Government.
  • Provide applicants with the highest level of customer service, displaying a cheerful and inviting demeanor.
  • Manage applicants with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect.
  • Safeguard Personal Identifiable Information (PII) including applicant paperwork, identifications, electronic biometric data, and reports.
  • Perform quality biometrics processing, capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established times.
  • Screen applicants for valid appointment notices and identification before entry.
  • Utilize crowd control barriers for safe and organized facility entry.
  • Visually inspect applicants and belongings before entry.
  • Ask applicants about illness status during health crises and decline entry if required.
  • Conduct periodic interior and exterior facility checks, reporting concerns to the Site Supervisor.
  • Assist the Site Supervisor or government Immigration Service Officer in contacting law enforcement or first responders.
  • Manage administrative paperwork, including tracking processing times, reconciling biometrics, maintaining visitor logs, and signing off on facility checks.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship (required for facility credentials/authorization).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak and write in English.
  • Ability to stand upright for scheduled shift duration (excluding meals and breaks).
  • Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands for quality fingerprints.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced public environment.
  • Ability to type and use basic computer skills.
  • Successfully complete biometrics training and become certified within sixty days.

Skills
