About the Role
The FCA regulates UK financial services to ensure fair, thriving, and effective markets, protecting consumers, driving economic growth, and shaping the future of UK finance. The Consumer Finance Directorate oversees supervision and policy for over 30,000 firms, ensuring consumers access affordable credit, fair treatment, and quality debt advice. This Senior Supervisor role within the Mainstream Lenders team focuses on developing stakeholder engagement, investigative, and project management skills to improve firm practices and consumer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead in-depth reviews of firm business models and strategies to identify conduct risks and shape protective interventions.
- Build collaborative relationships with senior leaders in supervised firms, setting expectations for consumer-centric outcomes.
- Manage a dynamic caseload using data-driven insight and sound judgment to resolve complex supervisory challenges.
- Partner across teams to deliver multi-firm projects, improving conduct standards and financial system integrity.
- Shape firm behavior, using formal regulatory tools when necessary, to ensure better consumer outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing ideas and insights to enhance processes, efficiency, and FCA impact.
Requirements
- Prior experience drafting clear, concise content for diverse audiences.
- Prior experience analyzing complex information, identifying key risks, and making risk-based regulatory judgments.
- Prior experience working on and prioritizing different workstreams, communicating strategic approaches and priorities to stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage demanding workloads, using sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of issues, guiding pragmatic, outcome-focused solutions.
- Effective written communication skills, producing high-quality briefings and papers for internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and strong analytical capability to evaluate evidence, assess risks, and justify decisions.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills, engaging stakeholders and firms to drive positive outcomes.
- Experience supporting and developing colleagues, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Prior experience in a financial analysis and/or accountancy role.
