About the Role

GSD&M seeks a leader for the creative output of its social media practice. This role focuses on social-first storytelling, owning creative output across major brands, leading a team of content creators, and connecting social and creative departments. The ideal candidate excels at delivering great work regardless of budget, timeline, or brief.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the quality, vision, and direction of social content across the client portfolio.
  • Champion platform-native, social-first creative for engagement.
  • Bridge GSD&M's creative department with social media realities, translating brand ideas into effective in-feed work.
  • Set and maintain high creative standards for the team.
  • Directly manage a team of five social content creators, overseeing their growth, output, and daily direction.
  • Foster a culture of creative ambition, craft, and accountability.
  • Partner with the Head of Social Media on team development, hiring, and capability building.
  • Lead end-to-end production of video content, episodic series, and platform-native formats.
  • Determine optimal production methods, utilizing in-house resources or external partners effectively.
  • Navigate legal, business affairs, and brand approvals efficiently.
  • Make smart creative decisions within budget constraints without sacrificing quality.
  • Partner with influencer and external creator teams to ensure high-quality, on-brand creative outcomes.
  • Develop frameworks and feedback processes to optimize creator relationships.
  • Present and sell work with confidence and conviction.
  • Develop strong client relationships based on trust, creative expertise, and results.
  • Stay current with platform trends, emerging formats, and cultural moments, integrating this knowledge into work.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of agency experience, with significant focus on social content, video production, or content-forward creative roles.
  • Portfolio demonstrating practical understanding of social platforms, including deep, hands-on experience with TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Deep fluency in video production and episodic content formats.
  • Operational instincts to manage production partners, budgets, and approvals while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Experience working with influencers and external creator partnerships.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Bias for action and a track record of problem-solving.
