About the Role

Join an international company making a global impact as an accounting professional in Life & Health reinsurance. This role involves end-to-end Financial Accounting & Reporting for the L&H Re Canadian Branch, collaborating with Finance and Actuarial teams across multiple global locations. You will report to the Head of Reporting, interacting directly with the Canadian CFO and other business leads. Duties include ensuring compliance with Local/Group requirements and internal control frameworks. You will produce accurate, timely technical and non-technical balances for regulatory reporting, review and analyze actual results, and contribute to recurring and ad hoc capital planning. Opportunities exist to engage in key reinsurance projects, including new transactions and system migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial analysis and reporting processes and tools for gross inward business and related intercompany or external reinsurance.
  • Analyze and explain the Branch's financial results for Canadian statutory/IFRS and Swiss statutory bases, investigating unusual variances and obtaining analytical support.
  • Automate and streamline processes to improve efficiency and documentation quality.
  • Challenge processes, procedures, and controls to enhance Finance team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Submit quarterly and/or annual filings with regulators (e.g., OSFI) and other external partners.
  • Provide support for Capital projections and capital reporting.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements comply with evolving Group and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Actuarial Management, Claims, Technical Accounting, Operations, and Finance colleagues in Canada, Zurich, Bratislava, and Bangalore to resolve accounting and administration issues.
  • Review technical (cashflows/IFRS17 financials) and non-technical (investment/expenses/cash) reconciliations and analysis performed by Central teams.
  • Perform and document internal control processes and respond to internal and external audit inquiries.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years related experience in a reinsurance/insurance environment (preferable) or other complex industry.
  • CPA, or equivalent (current or in the near future)

Salary/Compensations
