About the Role

The Policy team drives the PSR's strategy, offering an opportunity to contribute to policy development, analysis, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement. The PSR ensures payment systems work effectively for everyone, operating as an independent economic regulator and subsidiary of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), with a planned consolidation into the FCA by 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver policy projects and analysis independently and collaboratively.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, including policy, economist, legal, and communications colleagues.
  • Engage diverse stakeholders (firms, government, regulators, consumer groups) to gather evidence, test policy, and explain approaches.
  • Conduct policy analysis.
  • Draft concise briefings on complex issues and present policy recommendations to project and PSR leadership.
  • Contribute to drafting internal and external policy papers, presentations, consultation documents, and statements.

Requirements

  • Experience in a policy or regulatory environment.
  • Experience in project delivery, including planning and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective written and oral communication, distilling complex issues into succinct messages.
  • Ability to present confidently to diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective relationship and influencing skills, collaborating with internal and external experts.
  • Strong prioritization skills to define priorities and contribute effectively.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to consider conflicting views while maintaining strategic focus.

Salary/Compensations

  • National (Edinburgh and Leeds): £43,100 - £53,700
  • London: £47,300 - £59,000
