About the Role
This senior, client-facing role supports Property & Casualty Insurance client relationship management, focusing on service delivery for an assigned book of business, primarily Charter Schools. The position coordinates service activity, delivers program-level strategy, and provides client consultation. It also involves mentoring a client service team, setting individual and team goals aligned with sales and growth strategies, executing service platforms, driving continuous process improvement, and proactively meeting client needs to enable retention and growth.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary client expert for risk management, coverage, contractual issues, and compliance, specifically for the Charter School industry
- Analyze client data, conduct market comparisons, strategize coverage and exclusions, and negotiate premiums and commission rates
- Provide marketing and new business development support, including preparing presentations, proposals, and conducting client meetings
- Delegate and oversee office administrative tasks
- Establish and maintain primary client business relationships and develop comprehensive customer service plans
- Build client trust and confidence through regular contact and prompt issue resolution
- Analyze client and market data to prepare insurance renewal options, strategize with clients, and advise on alternatives
- Negotiate with carriers for optimal client premiums, commissions, and coverage
- Maintain expert knowledge and provide clients with current information on insurance, market trends, and legislation
- Collaborate with claims advocates to ensure client needs are met during the claims process
- Prepare renewal specifications for carriers, including claims analysis, operational changes, and pricing recommendations
- Conduct team-based renewal presentations
- Develop strong relationships with business partners, including underwriters, brokers, and service providers
- Set priorities and manage workflow to achieve goals
- Maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and business contacts
- Document correspondence and activity in agency management systems
- Interact effectively, utilizing strong communication skills to provide information and guidance
- Stay informed on industry information, product developments, coverages, legislation, and technology to enhance performance
- Supervise Client Manager and Assistant Client Manager positions
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Five or more years of experience in a mid-size brokerage or independent agency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- High level of interpersonal skills for sensitive and confidential situations
- Valid State Property and Casualty License
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Excellent negotiation skills and in-depth insurance business knowledge
- Strong leadership skills with experience in delegation, coaching, and mentoring
- Proficiency in Sagitta and ImageRight (preferred)
- Strong aptitude for interpreting coverage forms, contractual agreements, and financial statements
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Project and team management experience (preferred)
- Insurance industry designations (CIC, CRM, CPCU) (preferred)
- Experience with complex shared/layered programs (preferred)
