About the Role

The Store Manager oversees daily operations of one or more self-storage locations with limited direct supervision. This role ensures high cleanliness standards, maintains financial accuracy through effective reporting and controls, and consistently delivers operational excellence. Store Managers build customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, present a structured sales process, and manage customer accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
  • Ensure highest cleanliness standards are met through continuous site maintenance, including office, interior, exterior, and surrounding areas.
  • Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
  • Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
  • Oversee routine administrative tasks, including maintaining auction files, following up on delinquent accounts, monitoring store budgets, and preparing and delivering bank deposits.
  • Protect company culture by establishing and maintaining professional relationships with all Extra Space employees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of customer-facing work experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Sales experience preferred.
  • Current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle (except in New York City and Brooklyn).
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • College education is a plus.
  • Ability to perform indoor and outdoor job responsibilities, ranging from sedentary desk work to physical duties.
  • Ability to work with varying physical demands and exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform regular tasks including standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, sitting, and lifting.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move items up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 50 lbs.
