About the Role
This role provides a quality claims advocacy service, managing and settling claims across all energy business classes, including Upstream Oil and Gas, Downstream Energy/Petrochemical, Power Generation, Renewable Energy, and Energy Casualty. A Claims Advocate acts as a strategic partner, driving client success and business growth by leveraging expert communication and insurance policy analysis to present compelling cases to insurers. The role ensures optimal outcomes throughout the claim's lifecycle by anticipating challenges and addressing stakeholder concerns. Responsibilities
- Manage and control a variety of claims within all Energy business lines, focusing on energy liability and a specific marine related account.
- Identify risk upon claim notification, review details with coverage/wording, acknowledge to client/intermediary, prepare claims file accurately and promptly, and maintain in-house computerised claims records.
- Produce and present claims information to insurers or clients, in written or networked format, and handle resultant instructions, queries, and enquiries.
- Monitor insurers’ agreement and payment of funds, ensuring payment to the appropriate beneficiary.
- Report any claims difficulties immediately to management.
- Ensure relevant insurer’s instructions are notified to Client/expert and vice versa.
- Build meaningful relationships with Clients, experts, and insurers through prompt, friendly, and professional interactions.
- Liaise effectively with placing colleagues, including maintaining and providing claims statistics for renewal or similar purposes.
- Participate in the sales and onboarding process for potential new clients as requested.
- Liaise effectively with accounting colleagues regarding collection/payment of funds, queries, and clearance of accounting entries.
- Stay updated with market and system changes, including building a strong market network within the energy claims community.
- Monitor workload and report to management as appropriate.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in business, law, economics, or engineering preferred but not required.
- Desire to achieve ACII status within a reasonable amount of time.
- 1-3 years of experience with a broker, insurer, lawyer, or loss adjuster handling upstream energy claims.
- Alternatively, experience in other energy lines, property, or marine, with an interest in moving into energy.
- Applicants without insurance experience will be considered if they demonstrate a strong desire to learn and develop their career in insurance.
- Ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
