About the Role

Pinterest seeks inquisitive, well-rounded Android engineers to join platform Engineering teams. This role involves collaborating with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to enable new technologies and experiences. Engineers will build robust frameworks and features, empowering both developers and Pinners, and finding creative solutions to complex problems. The role encourages driving new initiatives from inception through technical design, implementation, and release. Responsibilities

Ensure excellence in core application components to support users and colleagues.
Identify app-wide challenges, then propose, test, and ship solutions.
Drive app improvements including modularization, image/video loading, RTL text, dependency injection, and reusable UI components.
Enhance developer effectiveness by improving app architecture, testing capabilities, and release cycles.
Resolve user pain points affecting the entire app, such as performance issues, crash rates, and user metric anomalies.
Collaborate with peers on high-impact projects for professional growth.
Leverage AI for faster execution, including drafting, prototyping, and outlining.
Utilize AI to explore alternative options, iterate, and compare approaches.
Employ AI to synthesize information, summarize, and distill themes.
Automate repeatable tasks using AI, such as documentation, reporting, and QA checks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Deep understanding of Android development and best practices in Kotlin and/or Java.
4+ years of industry Android application development experience building consumer or business-facing products.
Experience writing reliable and maintainable code following best practices.
Ability to stay current with new technologies and incorporate them.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve workflow speed and quality.
Strong track record of critically evaluating and verifying AI-assisted work.
High integrity and ownership, protecting sensitive data and avoiding over-reliance on AI.
