About the Role
Owls in this role provide insights and analyses at all stages of our project lifecycles, from earliest prototyping to live engagement with our players. Balancing an analytical mindset and technical expertise while diving into data and turning it into meaningful insights. Adapting data insights to the unique landscape of games and VR, and partnering with Owls at all levels across our creative, accessibility, financial, and live services teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to understand data, suggest improvements, and develop data collection, analysis, and automation approaches.
- Develop and manage data pipelines, models, tools, and processes for accurate data collection and analysis.
- Develop and manage product dashboards for leadership, product development, and marketing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to recommend quantitative and qualitative metrics and KPIs for technical and business outcomes.
- Identify trends in play patterns to inspire new or improved game features and content.
- Partner with marketing and sales for ongoing performance analysis of projects.
- Support the Project-Role Framework methodology with comprehensive analyses across the product lifecycle.
- Document analysis using industry best practices, including data visualization (graphs, tables, PowerPoint).
- Build automated dashboards and reports to facilitate understanding of business KPIs and player experience.
- Stay current with Unity and VR industry trends and development practices, and share knowledge with the team.
- Stay current with global data compliance regulations to ensure data integrity.
Requirements
- Experience with data modeling in an applied context.
- Experience with large complex data sets using structured and unstructured data.
- Ability to develop methodological approaches for data collection and analysis.
- Ability to perform data mining, pattern recognition & correlation analysis and insight generation.
- Familiarity with statistical and data programming languages such as SQL, PHP, Python, and C++.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, data confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences.
- Ability to research independently, verify data, recommend improvements to data analysis methodology, and navigate project dependencies and stakeholder collaborations.
- Collaborative and creative-thinking team player with ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Experience with Google or Microsoft spreadsheets and presentation tools.
- University Diploma in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics, or another quantitative field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working as a data analyst.
- Experience with Looker Studio or similar analytical tools.
- 2+ years of games industry experience.
- Live-operations games experience.
- Ability to use virtual reality headsets.
- Must be located and eligible to work in the United States or Canada.
- Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data, and troubleshoot data discrepancies.
