About the Role

As a Design Manager, you will oversee technical guidance, quality, schedule, and personnel management for onsite/nearshore commissioned design projects in Japan and India. This role also involves interviewing dispatched personnel and comprehensive on-site operations management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct technical execution, quality assurance, scheduling, and resource allocation for contract and core design projects across Japan, U.S., and India.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project teams and clients, ensuring alignment on technical specifications, timelines, and budgetary goals.
  • Manage the comprehensive portfolio of contract and core projects within the Goken Nihon division, ensuring strategic alignment and operational excellence.
  • Foster collaboration and maintain critical communication channels with internal/external engineers and key suppliers in Japan, India, and the U.S.
  • Act as the central point of coordination for all project stakeholders, facilitating technical reviews and resolving scope issues.
  • Conduct interviews for dispatched personnel.
  • Manage overall on-site operations.

Requirements

  • Basic operational skills in CATIA V5 or V6 (3DEXPERIENCE).
  • Experience with Generative Shape Design (GSD) workbench.
  • Experience with Part Design workbench.
  • Experience with Assembly Design workbench.
  • Experience with Drafting workbench.
  • Over 10 years of experience in design and development of automotive interior/exterior resin parts (soft and hard trim).
  • Over 10 years of experience with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier for interior/exterior resin parts development.
  • Over 5 years of experience in project management as a team leader (technical guidance, schedule, quality).
  • Knowledge of surface/solid modeling and mechanical drafting.
  • Understanding of automotive development schedules.
  • Deep understanding of resin parts manufacturing processes, DFMEA, GD&T, and cumulative tolerance analysis.
  • Preference for Honda parts development experience.
  • Japanese-English bilingual skills (JLPT N2 or higher).
  • MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
