About the Role

Develops and leads the implementation of high quality developmentally appropriate programs for children to facilitate their physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Leads the implementation of programs and activities that facilitate the inclusion and integration of children with special needs. Supports a team environment in the classroom and the Centre. This position is currently based at Tippett Child Care Centre (38 Monte Kwinter Ct, North York, ON M3H 0E2).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize a safe environment, supervising children to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate daily programming using approved curriculum to promote children's optimal development.
  • Comply with the Child Care Early Years Act, Toronto Operating Criteria, Toronto Public Health guidelines, and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Observe children's strengths and needs, then plan, implement, evaluate, and revise programming accordingly.
  • Demonstrate positive adult/child interaction, promote independence and problem-solving skills, and model mutual respect.
  • Communicate with parents/families, providing feedback on child's learning and development.
  • Liaise with other agencies and individuals to support children's progress.
  • Support the team in managing children's medication schedules and allergies.
  • Drop off or pick up children from buses outside the Centre, if required.
  • Serve and clean up lunches, prepare snacks, and maintain a clean kitchen.
  • Supervise student teachers and assist with college evaluation forms.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education degree/diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with families and children, including children with special needs
  • Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Strong working knowledge of ELECT and High Scope curriculum
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with diverse parents/families, colleagues, and service providers
  • Acceptable Vulnerable Police Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid certification
  • Appropriate medical and immunization record
