About the Role

Join Token.io's Payments team as a Product Owner to shape, develop, deliver, and document core Pay by Bank products and capabilities. This high-impact role influences Token.io’s Account-to-Account (A2A) payments offering, combining product ownership with technical writing and developer experience oversight. Collaborate closely with Engineering to translate product vision into technical requirements, support effective delivery, and ensure priority alignment throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for Payments, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and deliver high-quality API-driven solutions.
  • Lead sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives to drive efficient and predictable delivery.
  • Gather requirements and shape product direction through collaboration with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize tools like Postman for API exploration, testing, and validation during product development.
  • Enhance the overall developer experience across the payments platform.
  • Develop a strong understanding of SaaS platform integration with payment capabilities.
  • Create and maintain clear, high-quality developer documentation, including API references and integration guides.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Product Owner (or similar), managing backlogs and collaborating with engineering in an Agile environment.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in API design, testing, and integration.
  • Relevant experience in payments, understanding payment methods, schemes, and flows.
  • Experience creating or contributing to developer-facing documentation, including API references and integration guides.
  • Familiarity with API and documentation tools such as Postman, OpenAPI / Swagger.
  • Proficiency in Jira for managing product backlogs, prioritizing work, defining user stories, and tracking delivery.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing web application products and user-centric product design.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams (engineering, design, commercial).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate documentation for developers and technical users.
  • Proven track record of bringing well-documented products to market.
  • Excellent presentation skills and proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to foster strong team alignment and collaboration between Product and Engineering.
  • Experience working with Account to Account (A2A) payments systems across the UK and EU (desirable).
  • Familiarity with Open Banking standards and frameworks, including PSD2 regulations and APIs (desirable).
  • Understanding of Agile delivery practices within regulated financial services environments (desirable).
  • Knowledge of markup languages (HTML, Markdown) and technical content management systems like Redocly (desirable).
