About the Role

Maintain the Bank’s Liquidity reserve position and clearing balance for all managed currencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage balance sheet liquidity by executing trades with external counterparties using money market instruments including fixed term deposits, repurchase agreements, short term Government Bills, and Foreign Exchange Swaps.
  • React to incoming/outgoing deposit flows to ensure prudent balance sheet management.
  • Assist in managing the longer-dated HQLA securities portfolio within the International Treasury team, including asset classes like Supranational, Sovereign, Agency securities, covered bonds, and ABS.
  • Collaborate with Global Counterparty Credit to diversify the investable universe and maximize investment opportunities.
  • Assist in determining Bank deposit interest rates based on market trading knowledge and investment options.
  • Employ funding strategies to achieve the lowest cost funds within established liquidity constraints.
  • Monitor market conditions via Bloomberg, news sources, communications, and analysis from brokers/dealers and counterparties.
  • Update spread levels for input into the Investment portfolio strategy.
  • Manage the utilization of the Bank’s securities and loan collateral to support borrowings, regulatory requirements, and participation in Financial Market Utilities.
  • Act as a liaison to Central Banks regarding direct transactions, collateral management, and other issues.
  • Compile financial management data to understand and communicate balance sheet change drivers.

Requirements

  • Certified Person (CP) status.
  • Proven experience in market operations trading.
  • Thorough business knowledge, preferably in financial markets or bank operations.

Skills

  • Expanded conceptual knowledge of markets and market activity.
  • Understanding of key business drivers to accomplish work.
  • Ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Knowledge of Central Bank monetary policy and practices, interest rates, foreign exchange, and credit markets and theory to monitor and manage cash positions in various currencies.
  • Knowledge of banking operations to understand and project balances and positions.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg (beneficial).
  • Analytical skills to resolve exceptions.
  • Ability to use various software packages to compile data for reports and to purchase and sell funds.
  • Ability to apply a wide variety of financial analysis and economic methodologies to understand and interpret market behavior and make financial decisions.
