About the Role

This role involves tackling complex engineering challenges in real-world environments, spanning both hardware and software. The Forward Deployed Engineer will be the primary customer interface, leading robotics deployments and ensuring seamless integration into daily operations. Responsibilities

  • Commission and install robotics on customer sites.
  • Develop and deliver customer training.
  • Perform on-site setup and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems across software, hardware, and networking on customer sites under pressure.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities, replicate issues, and suggest/develop fixes.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to iterate and improve solutions.
  • Deliver real-world impact using cutting-edge robotics.
  • Lead deployment, setup, and training of robots at new sites.
  • Interface with customers to find solutions for setup and training challenges.
  • Provide on-call support, including exchanging broken robots for spares.
  • Replicate problems for testing and analysis at HQ.
  • Drive iterative improvement of robotic systems.
  • Serve as a critical link between Hardware and Software teams.

Requirements

  • Comfort with hardware and software concepts.
  • Background in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Multiple varied experiences in hardware and software.
  • Hands-on robotics or automation experience from projects, internships, industry, or startups.
  • Eagerness to solve problems outside of one's comfort zone.
  • Fast learner.
  • Collaborative mindset, including knowledge sharing, teaching, and embracing feedback.
  • Practical problem-solver for complex engineering challenges in real-world environments.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK up to 3-4 days per week.
  • Ability to support customers on-site during operational hours, potentially starting at 4 am.
  • Highly ambitious, capable of taking projects from concept to completion.
  • Self-directed and proactive in dynamic, unpredictable, multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Enthusiastic team player who asks questions, helps others, and communicates effectively.
