About the Role
This full-time English-language digital content editor role in Tokyo strengthens how articles explain rating actions and credit trends. The editor will enhance digital content through effective headlines, brevity, and clear credit stories, including post-editing machine translations with Japanese source material. This role is critical to S&P Global Ratings' mission of providing transparency and accountability in financial markets, impacting the company's reputation for market intelligence and analytical insight. Joining a global editorial team, the editor will gain exposure to new research presentation approaches, data visualization, social media presence, and publishing channel modernization. The role involves collaboration with editors, translators, analysts, and operations specialists in Tokyo and across the Asia-Pacific region.
Responsibilities
- Ensure error-free English-language articles under tight deadlines, complying with regulatory standards, through strong attention to detail and processes.
- Post-edit machine translations while checking against Japanese source material.
- Communicate effectively with local and overseas colleagues.
- Edit and create graphics using standard graphics software tools (e.g., Excel, Visio, Plotly, and Illustrator).
- Ensure articles conform to global publishing standards in terms of format, style, and branding specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in digital journalism, communications, economics, or a related discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (native level).
- Proven reading skills in Japanese (minimum JLPT N2).
- Good interpersonal and decision-making skills.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and pressured environment.
- Sound knowledge of terminology and concepts used in financial markets.
- Proven interest in developing digital, desktop publishing, and data visualization skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and Adobe Illustrator.
