About the Role

The Application Engineer supports key Bentley accounts, reporting to Solution Engineering Management. This role partners with sales to showcase Bentley solutions to global organizations, preparing content, delivering presentations, and understanding account requirements. The position bridges Bentley products with user needs, supporting Account, User, and Product Advancement, and contributing to ARR growth and product usage.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Bentley solutions to infrastructure audiences
  • Create presentations and demos showcasing Bentley applications
  • Prepare datasets for user presentations and demos
  • Conduct and/or support Discovery sessions to define solution requirements
  • Support sales and marketing events
  • Contribute to proposal development and submission
  • Provide feedback to Product Teams via established channels to improve products
  • Collaborate with Product Teams on updates
  • Research proactively and understand industry standards
  • Recommend product configurations
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitors
  • Demonstrate the value of technical solutions to designers, engineers, architects, contractors, and owners
  • Connect with relevant stakeholders and users to gather account-specific intelligence, feedback, and insights
  • Share intelligence, feedback, and insights with the account team for strategy and plans
  • Communicate consistently, clearly, and timely with account stakeholders and internal colleagues
  • Attend and contribute to account team meetings as required
  • Support sales opportunities and account planning
  • Execute the Bentley Sales Process
  • Use Salesforce to document key activities
  • Ensure a smooth transition to Services engagements through knowledge sharing
  • Support in the delivery of training as required
  • Foster a culture of “One Bentley” and collaborate with internal stakeholders
  • Travel to user sites and software user conferences up to 50% of the time may be required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field
  • Preferably an infrastructure-related background
  • 2+ years' experience in Construction Management, Virtual Design and Construction, or Project planning is preferred
  • Technical sales experience in the infrastructure or related industry preferred
  • JPN language proficiency (native or business level with credentials)
  • Ability to work in Japan (VISA, PR, or equivalent)
  • English (business level or higher)
  • Experience in either a support, or business engineering (inside sales) role

  • Engineering ability (coding in JS, C++, React, C#, Python) (Nice to have)
  • Familiarity with GitHub (Nice to have)
  • Familiarity with cloud application systems and infrastructure (Nice to have)
  • Familiarity with or experience in Construction, Infrastructure, and or asset lifecycle management (Nice to have)

Location

  • Hybrid-Tokyo
  • Travel within Japan for conferences and customer/site visits
  • Occasional internal travel overseas (<1 x year)

Work Type

  • Full-time
  • Hybrid
  • Regular 40 hour week with occasional late nights or early mornings

Experience Level
