About the Role
AirTrunk is a rapidly growing hyperscale data centre company in the APME region, focused on scaling and sustaining the digital future. The Technical Services Manager supports the Senior Technical Service Manager in all data centre operations to ensure 100% uptime and SLA compliance, acting as the primary contact for site facilities and supervising third-party vendors. This role is based in the West Melbourne data centre.
Responsibilities
- Manage a sub-section of the data centre site or a portfolio of customers, reporting issues to the Senior Technical Service Manager.
- Lead planning and coordination of preventive maintenance and repair works.
- Manage OPEX budget, change management, and incident management procedures.
- Coordinate activities with customers.
- Coordinate with the Development team to run construction activity and installations, ensuring system design, installation and testing adhere to operational standards.
- Ensure adherence to site operating procedures (SOP, MOP, EOP) and legal documentation (e.g., SWMS).
- Ensure compliance with site accreditations (ISMS, ISO, SOC2, PCI).
- Maintain compliance with local regulatory requirements including environmental, building, fire, electrical, hydraulic, occupational health & safety.
- Serve as the primary operational contact for customers and local escalation point during emergencies and daily operations.
- Attend witness testing of equipment during commissioning to validate operations and receive documentation.
- Manage provisioning of data centre services including connectivity, power, deployment, and additional customer services.
- Lead minor capital projects for customers or internal purposes.
- Supervise operational metrics, data, and analyze risks.
- Conduct regular property inspections.
- Participate in the on-call incident response roster.
Requirements
- 5+ years of mechanical and electrical experience in data centres (preferred), facilities, engineering operations, trades, or related fields.
- Ability to establish and review Method of Procedure documents, incident reports, emergency event summaries, root cause analysis reports, and O&M manuals.
- Experience successfully managing third-party service providers and negotiating quotes/pricing for services.
- Familiarity with Customer Portals, BMS, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Possess Security NV1 Clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Excellent collaboration and strong communication skills in English.
- Exceptionally flexible, forward-thinking, and motivated by change.
- Effective customer management skills and meeting chair experience.
