About the Role
Own and manage end-to-end in-house accounting for international entities, ensuring timely, accurate closes and well-documented ledgers. Lead accounting for a fast-growing scale-up, migrating from external providers, improving finance tools, and enabling reliable group reporting while mentoring junior teammates.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end in-house bookkeeping in DATEV Rechnungswesen (AR/AP, banks/cash, accruals/deferrals).
- Lead migration of accounting data and workflows from external bookkeepers to DATEV.
- Own data consolidation across entities, including intercompany billing and reconciliations.
- Drive tool setup and integration, connecting systems with DATEV and designing P2P/expense workflows.
- Own reporting and advisor coordination, delivering timely financial data and managing external tax advisors.
Requirements
- Proven ownership of German entity bookkeeping within DATEV Rechnungswesen for a GmbH or similar, covering AR/AP, bank reconciliations, accruals/deferrals.
- Preparation of accurate VAT returns under HGB and German VAT rules.
- Demonstrated success transitioning from an external bookkeeper to an in-house setup, including data migration, chart-of-accounts/VAT code design, access management, and SOP creation.
- Measurable improvements in close speed and data quality.
- Hands-on experience integrating spend/expense tools with DATEV, building and validating tax/account mappings.
- Implementing P2P and expense workflows with audit trails, and resolving issues to root cause.
- Strong intercompany and multi-entity experience: issuing/booking intercompany invoices, performing monthly reconciliations, and producing audit-ready schedules.
- Passion for in-house accounting, German bookkeeping in DATEV, and building reliable close and compliance processes.
- Takes full ownership from start to finish.
- Natural problem-solver who streamlines workflows, fixes root causes, and implements pragmatic controls and automations.
