About the Role

ACCA is seeking a Senior Audit Reviewer to join their Compliance team on a full-time, permanent basis. This remote role involves planning and conducting monitoring visits to firms, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending regulatory actions. The position is crucial for ensuring ACCA upholds its status as a statutory supervisory body.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct monitoring visits to firms holding a UK or Ireland auditing certificate and/or CAA-Atol licence.
  • Identify and communicate necessary improvements in firm work to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and the Code of Ethics.
  • Consider and recommend further regulatory action where appropriate.
  • Prepare and issue detailed reports to firms or committees after monitoring visits.
  • Provide information to other departments as needed for regulatory responsibilities.
  • Carry out peer reviews of colleague's visit reports to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Ensure firms respond to visit reports and provide outstanding information.
  • Respond to post-visit correspondence and assess action plans.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and review of regulatory procedures and systems.
  • Undertake other duties and ad hoc projects within Compliance.

Requirements

  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACCA or equivalent).
  • Significant post-qualification UK and/or Irish external audit experience at manager level or above.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of International Standards on Auditing, Ethical Standards, and ACCA’s Rulebook.
  • Extensive practical experience of applying relevant auditing standards.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with experienced audit practitioners.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and manage potentially difficult individuals.
  • Sound judgment and ability to make reasoned decisions.
  • Organised and methodical approach with ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Appreciation of the importance of appropriate management controls and best practice.
  • Prepared to occasionally travel throughout the UK and Ireland, potentially involving overnight stays.
  • Must hold a UK/Republic of Ireland driving licence and have access to own vehicle.
