About the Role

This role involves completing maintenance inspections and visits for preventative and corrective maintenance on Australia's first driverless metro train, as part of the Sydney Metro North West Project.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on train fleets and depot infrastructure, including troubleshooting, duty checks, inspections, component changes, and overhauls.
  • Apply competence-based skills with a flexible approach to work practices.
  • Investigate faults on mechanical, pneumatic, and other components.
  • Refurbish and modify rolling stock, including component and system replacement and upgrading.
  • Comply with safety rules, work instructions, Safe Systems of Work, and supervisor instructions.
  • Respond to in-service breakdowns and participate in first response for emergencies.
  • Assist in preparing Safe Systems of Work, Rule Changes, Risk Assessments, and conducting Safety Management checks.
  • Compile accurate examination sheets, modification records, and other documentation using IT systems or paper-based methods.
  • Participate in integrated teams for electro-mechanical equipment changes on Metro cars, utilizing multi-skilling.

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Engineering (mechanical, electrical or electro technical) or similar trade qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in technical functions.
  • Railway industry experience preferred.
  • Troubleshooting experience desired.
  • Electrician license (not mandatory).
