About the Role

The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and well-being of all members, guests, and employees at the Club. This role contributes to the highly professional team of safety, security, and medical providers, encouraging the contribution of knowledge and skill sets for the benefit of the community and department. The Security Officer deters, detects, and responds to potential or active threats directed at members, guests, employees, and property, acting within the guidelines set forth by the Club Security Department policy. This position is key in creating the Discovery Land Company experience for members and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure residential and working environment by identifying, treating, and reducing threats and workplace risks.
Conduct a seamless entry for all authorized individuals into the property.
Prevent unauthorized access to the property and use of its facilities.
Provide a medical response capability to members, guests, and employees on club property.
Investigate and respond to any significant incident or accidents as directed by the Supervisor, Director, or Management.
Provide emergency management advice in the event of a natural disaster.
Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
Remain in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Enforce the club’s health and safety policies to all members, guests, and employees.
Maintain a personal “concierge” security approach for all members, guests, and employees.
Become versed in Use of Force application as dictated by the company’s Use of Force policy.
Effectively manage Use of Force incidents, limiting liability, minimizing disruptions, and preventing member, guest, and employee injuries.

Requirements

Prior experience in Security, Law enforcement, Military, or Customer Service.
Valid New York Driver’s License.
Clear Criminal Background.
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain a State of New York Guard Card.
Must be able to work and stand inside/outside during all weather conditions.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of basic computer functions and programs (Word, Excel, Outlook Email, etc.).
Ability to work calmly and efficiently in high duress situations.
Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Long hours may be required due to business demands.
Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
