About the Role
As one of Ericsson's highest-performing Silicon teams, we define and deliver Design For eXcellence (DFX), Silicon Lifecycle Management (SLM), and Reliability Availability Serviceability (RAS) capabilities to ensure 5G Radio and Baseband silicon reliability from power-on through in-field operation. Our end-to-end scope covers architecture, design, production test, post-silicon bring-up, and in-field monitoring, diagnosis, and repair. We partner closely with System, Firmware, Baseband, and Radio teams on multi-ASIC products where hardware and software must work as one. We integrate AI as a first-class counterpart to accelerate daily workflows and enable research for next-generation DFX, SLM, and RAS methodology. This role offers the opportunity to set direction in an emerging field, collaborate with experienced mentors, and see ideas ship inside silicon powering mission-critical networks.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to DFX, SLM, and RAS features across the silicon lifecycle, including architecture, design, production test, post-silicon bring-up, in-field monitoring, diagnosis, and repair.
- Build and apply AI and machine learning (classical ML, modern LLM, agentic approaches) to automate engineering workflows, accelerate debug and triage, and extract insights from silicon and system telemetry.
- Collaborate with Silicon, Systems, Firmware, Baseband, and Radio teams on cross-domain initiatives requiring seamless hardware and software operation.
- Introduce next-generation DFX, SLM, and RAS methodology using AI, including prototyping, evaluating on real data, and hardening successful ideas for production.
- Document work, communicate results clearly, and contribute to a culture of technical rigor and shared learning.
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals.
- Clear problem-solving ability.
- Strong written and spoken technical communication.
- Demonstrated curiosity and a builder mindset in AI and machine learning, proven through coursework, research, projects, or hands-on work.
- Eagerness to build deep technical expertise in Silicon/DFT or Systems/Firmware domains.
- Internship or research engagement at a silicon, systems, wireless, or embedded company (plus).
- Post-silicon lab, board bring-up, or production-test exposure (plus).
- AI or ML work deployed on real hardware or run against real-world data, beyond coursework (plus).
- Familiarity with EDA tools or DFT methodology in any toolchain (plus).
- PhD-level research in DFX, SLM, RAS, silicon telemetry, post-silicon analytics, or AI applied to EDA or silicon engineering (plus).
Skills
- Proficiency in Python.
- Working knowledge of C or C++.
- Comfort in a Linux environment.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as git.
- Experience with classical ML, deep learning, LLM, or agent-based tooling.
- Digital logic design fundamentals.
- Exposure to SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with DFT concepts such as scan, ATPG, MBIST, JTAG, or IJTAG.
- Scripting.
- Awareness of EDA flows.
- Coursework and projects in VLSI and computer architecture.
- Embedded systems.
- RTOS or bare-metal firmware development.
- Comfort programming close to hardware in C.
- Experience with telemetry, data pipelines, or system monitoring.
- Exposure to wireless, RF, or networking systems.
- Hands-on work with SoCs, FPGAs, or edge-compute platforms.
