About the Role
Serve as a Specialist, Marketing General for the Consumer Audio business, contributing to the development and execution of mid- to long-term digital-first marketing communications strategies to support business growth in the Japan market. This role involves managing digital communications across the Consumer Audio portfolio, including speakers, headphones, amplifiers, and microphones, for brands like JBL, Harman Kardon, and Mark Levinson. Collaborate with local stakeholders and global/cross-functional teams to enhance the customer journey, support new product launches, and ensure alignment with global brand direction, requiring high English proficiency. Ultimately, contribute to achieving business objectives and fostering sustainable brand growth and long-term brand equity in Japan.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute digital-first marketing communications strategies for the Consumer Audio portfolio in Japan, focusing on brand storytelling, product positioning, and culturally relevant content.
- Plan and implement digital marketing initiatives in Japan, including creative development, advertising execution with agencies, owned media management (social media), influencer marketing, and events.
- Contribute to successful new product launches by executing social-centric digital marketing activities aligned with GTM plans, including teaser campaigns, launch day activations, and post-launch community engagement.
- Lead the creation and curation of compelling visual and written content for social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and emerging channels), aligning with global brand identity and local Japanese youth culture.
- Manage the social media content calendar and community, driving engagement, follower growth, and brand affinity through platform-native formats like short-form video, UGC campaigns, and interactive storytelling.
- Collaborate with Shopper Experience and Product Media Relations teams to enhance the customer journey across all touchpoints, ensuring social content supports awareness and conversion.
- Collaborate with global marketing and cross-functional teams for alignment and effective execution, serving as the local voice and cultural gatekeeper for HARMAN brands in Japan.
- Translate global product positioning into locally resonant messaging and creative concepts to differentiate JBL in Japan's audio and lifestyle market.
- Monitor and evaluate campaign performance and social media metrics (engagement rate, share of voice, sentiment, content efficiency) to optimize activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in marketing communications with a strong focus on digital marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience in influencer marketing and partnership management, including building relationships with external creators, media, and strategic partners.
- Strong proficiency in English for global business communication.
- Native-level Japanese language skills with the ability to create and critically review high-standard marketing copy.
- Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Solid understanding of brand management and consumer engagement.
- Hands-on experience with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X), including active engagement in content creation and emerging trends.
- Ability to work effectively in a global and cross-functional environment.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of product positioning and brand architecture, capable of translating technical features into emotional consumer benefits and lifestyle narratives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Media Studies, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in consumer electronics or marketing globally recognized consumer brands with strong brand equity.
- Expertise in social media strategy and content planning.
- Experience in e-commerce or performance marketing.
- Familiarity with GTM planning and product launch processes.
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms) for campaign optimization.
- Experience in content creation or storytelling for digital and social media platforms.
- Experience in managing agencies or external partners.
- Passion for music culture, audio technology, and youth lifestyle trends in Japan.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in marketing communications or digital marketing roles.
- Fluency in Japanese and high proficiency in English for business communication.
- Eligibility to work in Japan.
- Willingness to travel up to 5%, domestically only.
- Willingness to work in the office (Harman flex policy allows office/remote work in alignment with manager).
- Successful completion of a background investigation/Aptitude Test.
