About the Role
Contribute to the timely delivery of cargo, luggage, and on-time flights while operating safely and securely. This role involves loading and unloading cargo, transporting materials between aircraft, handling freight and baggage, completing necessary forms, transporting aircraft furnishings, assisting with drum handling, de-icing aircraft, clearing windshields, and performing pushout/tow functions. Responsibilities also include connecting/removing ground power, routine cleaning of work areas, and assisting in monitoring facility security, adhering to WFS site security procedures, and reporting security breaches.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload aircraft cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. within confined areas.
- Push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers.
- Drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested areas, positioning them near aircraft.
- Perform aircraft push-out using an 80,000 lb. vehicle or guide the driver.
- Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb. vehicle with attached carts.
- Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destination.
- Engage in proper ground-to-cockpit communication during aircraft push-out and towing functions.
- De-ice aircraft at heights of up to 20-80 ft., lifting and holding the nose, and spraying wings and fuselage with glycol.
- Perform ramp transfers of cargo.
- Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight, company material, export at designated express docks, mail, and baggage in the outbound baggage room.
- Complete forms and messages necessary for designated functions.
- Transport furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft.
- Assist in loading, unloading, and racking both filled and empty drums.
- Clear aircraft windshields.
- Connect and remove ground power and ground start units.
- Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities.
- Assist in monitoring facility security.
- Comply with WFS site security procedures for assigned warehouse and other operations.
- Report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance with the site security plan to managers or via the WFS whistleblower program.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully communicate with others.
- Ability to perform functions in variable weather conditions.
- Ability to perform functions in environmental conditions including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise.
- Ability to work in a high-noise level environment.
- Ability to pull, push, and lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs. onto or from a conveyor belt.
- Depth perception.
- Ability to distinguish colors (red, green, yellow).
Skills
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off.
Work Type
- Part Time
- AM Shift: Tuesday to Friday 4:00 am to 7:30 am
- AM Shift: Saturday 5:00 am to 8:30 am
- PM Shift: Monday to Friday 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm
