About the Role
Trexquant is hiring an early-career technology transactions attorney to focus on agreements powering research, trading, and operational infrastructure, including data licensing and technology procurement. This role involves direct collaboration with alpha researchers, data scientists, and software engineers, and close partnership with senior counsel on broader legal functions like intellectual property, artificial intelligence, privacy, data protection, and securities regulation.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate data licensing agreements, focusing on commercial terms, usage rights, derived data, user obligations, audit, and exit options.
- Lead technology procurement contracting for SaaS, cloud, data center agreements, software licenses, and professional services.
- Build and maintain templates, playbooks, intake processes, and contract tracking to enhance institutional memory for a high-volume docket.
- Manage the NDA program and intellectual property terms within commercial agreements, including derived data, open source, and AI use compliance.
- Support senior counsel on ad hoc corporate matters, gaining exposure to legal work at an algorithmic trading firm.
Requirements
- JD degree.
- Admitted to practice in NY or eligible for in-house registration.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience at a law firm, in-house at a financial services or technology company, or a combination.
- Demonstrated drafting and negotiation skill in commercial technology contracts, with focus or strong interest in data and technology transactions.
- Familiarity with market and exchange data licensing, SaaS and cloud agreements, trade secrets protection, or IP licensing.
- Strong commercial judgment.
- Comfort working directly with business and research colleagues.

Salary/Compensations
- Base salary range: $160,000 to $190,000
- Discretionary, performance-based bonus
