About the Role

CharterUP is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead the development and deployment of machine learning models within our marketplace team. You will focus on pricing and availability optimization while establishing scalable data science systems, standards, and practices to drive business growth and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain production machine learning models focusing on pricing, availability, forecasting, and optimization.
  • Establish principles, infrastructure, and systems for data science to support long-term scalability.
  • Drive improvements in data pipelines, modeling, and governance to ensure high-quality data.
  • Collaborate with executives and cross-functional teams to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Promote a data-first culture through experimentation, statistical rigor, and data storytelling.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to the development of the data science function.
  • Embed elasticity models, demand forecasts, and operator availability logic into the core platform.
  • Design and implement dynamic rules for price acceptance and operator match rates.
  • Develop frameworks for controlled experiments and monitoring of KPIs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data science.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling data-driven functions in high-growth or startup environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering high-impact projects.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining ML models in production.
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL in big data environments.
  • Strong experience with Python or R for large-scale analysis.
  • Background in data modeling, pipeline development, and data governance.
  • Ability to influence at the executive level and communicate complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.
