About the Role
New Castle Building Products is seeking a qualified Boom Operator / Driver for their East Berlin, CT location. This role is crucial for safely transporting and delivering building materials to clients, ensuring operational efficiency and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport material to the client's location.
- Load and unload material from the warehouse to and from the truck.
- Unload material at the customer's site.
- Operate boom to lift and move building materials from ground storage areas and trucks to the top of buildings.
- Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.
- Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, or grappling devices, making repairs as necessary.
- Operate a forklift in a safe manner with proper safety equipment.
- Perform frequent lifting and moving of material up to 80 pounds.
- Function in a dynamic warehouse environment, including order fulfillment.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues through excellent interpersonal skills.
- Observe and understand all safety practices and procedures.
- Attend safety meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must possess Articulated Boom Crane or Knuckle Boom Certification.
- Must be NCCCO certified.
- Prior experience in building materials is a plus.
- Must be detail and customer service oriented.
- Must have OSHA 10 certification.
- Must have warehouse and truck-mounted forklift experience.
- Must have at least 2+ years of Class A or B experience.
- Must possess a CDL Class A or B license with Hazmat Endorsement.
