About the Role

Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of underwriting files and support transactions throughout their lifecycle, from initial assessment and structuring to issuance and ongoing risk management.
- Assess credit and non-credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to support sound underwriting decisions.
- Structure transactions to meet client needs while aligning with EDC's risk policies, procedures, and requirements, including pricing, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
- Apply relevant EDC policies, procedures, risk requirements, and regulatory expectations when assessing and structuring transactions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business development partners, clients, financial institutions, surety companies, and other internal partners to deliver practical and responsive underwriting solutions and help clients achieve success.
- Foster continuous improvement by providing feedback on underwriting processes, tools, and work methods.
- Depending on level, manage files of increasing complexity, autonomy, and visibility, ranging from supporting routine transactions with guidance at levels 14 and 15, to independently handling standard or moderately complex work at levels 16 and 17, to leading and advising on more complex or irregular transactions at level 18.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of underwriting principles and practices, financial analysis, transaction structuring, and contract surety.
- Analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to formulate clear, well-supported recommendations.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Eligibility to work legally in Canada (Canadian citizens or permanent residents).
- Must meet government security clearance requirements.
Skills
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation or enrollment in these programs
