About the Role
Our OBGYN Medical Practice is growing and building its team of passionate, patient focused healthcare professionals. We are seeking a Medical Assistant with reliable transportation to travel to various locations. Strong data entry skills are a must have.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patient back from waiting room to clinical area, ensuring proper patient identification.
- Performs all necessary clinical intake activities and documents appropriate information.
- Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographic, medication history, social, and medical history.
- Provides clerical and secretarial work associated with patient care, including preparing patient charts and assisting with paperwork.
- Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation process.
- Ensures the examination area is clean and stocked after each patient use.
- Prepares patients for scheduled visits to maintain timely patient flow.
- Conducts in-office testing as directed by the clinician and coordinates testing and outside ancillary services.
- Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the clinician, logging results and reconciling in patient records.
- Contacts patients to provide requested follow-up, advise on test results, or relay clinician instructions.
- Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
- Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
- Assists in the training of new staff.
- Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Maintains and models the Organization’s values.
- Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required in accordance with their scope of practice.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED with 1-year Medical Assistant experience, or new graduate of Medical Assistant program, or Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years job related experience in a medical office.
- Ability to travel between practices as needed.
- Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
- Data entry required.
- Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
- BLS Certification is required within 30 days.
