About the Role

This position is created specifically for the 2026 Canada Summer Jobs program, running from June 1, 2026, to July 27, 2026. The Communication Adviser will assist in all departmental areas under the supervision of the Executive Assistant and the President and CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute an annual communications plan, including digital media and traditional communication vehicles.
  • Assist with producing the Annual Report and other marketing materials.
  • Generate media stories from various sources.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with key media contacts, community leaders, and external audiences.
  • Conduct interviews with residents and write their stories for the organization’s website.
  • Participate in the organization’s community activities.

Requirements

  • All applicants must meet eligibility guidelines as specified by Service Canada.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Successful candidates must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.
