About the Role

Responsibilities
- Develop functional 3D model layouts for ADR and refinery projects by interpreting P&IDs, equipment lists, and process requirements.
- Create efficient plant layouts that support process requirements, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to establish initial project layout concepts.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, and electrical engineers to ensure interdisciplinary alignment.
- Work with other designers to develop general arrangement drawings, equipment models, piping layouts, and platforms.
- Interface with clients to understand site constraints, operating preferences, and project expectations.
- Coordinate with vendors to incorporate equipment dimensions, maintenance clearances, and installation requirements.
- Evaluate equipment placement to optimize piping design, material handling, and operator safety.
- Identify and resolve layout conflicts, design risks, and constructability concerns early in the project.
- Support knowledge transfer of specialized ADR and refinery layout practices and standards.
- Review and check design work for accuracy, completeness, and project alignment.
- Provide layout input during proposal development, detailed engineering, and design reviews.
- Mentor and assist less experienced designers in modeling practices and discipline coordination.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders to ensure the design model remains current.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing 3D plant and equipment layouts using SolidWorks.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D layouts, general arrangement drawings, and design documentation.
- Knowledge of structural steel shapes, including beams, channels, angles, tubing, plate, grating, stairs, platforms, and supports.
- Working knowledge of piping systems, including routing, fittings, valves, flanges, and maintenance clearances.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment lists, vendor drawings, and project specifications.
- Experience laying out industrial equipment considering process flow, operator access, and maintenance needs.
- Strong spatial awareness for coordinating equipment, piping, and steel.
- Ability to identify layout conflicts, access issues, and piping congestion.
- Experience coordinating with engineers, designers, clients, and vendors.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn specialized ADR and refinery systems.
