About the Role
Industrial Sewer I is responsible for operating a sewing machine to sew P.V.C. into synthetic material, creating bellows for protective machine covers. This role involves working with materials that range in thickness and weight, with a focus on lighter, smaller pieces that may require careful maneuvering.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret job cards for information specifications.
- Operate equipment to produce products meeting dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
- Sew, troubleshoot, and test product.
- Multitask to perform other duties assigned by the Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions to sew custom products.
- Sew components using a variety of materials, machinery, and hand tools.
- Follow established procedures to ensure product quality and adherence to customer specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections and quality checks during the sewing process.
- Report any issues or deviations from specifications per protocol.
- Check the layout and stiffeners for size.
- Sew stiffeners, add zippers and other items to layout.
- Sew tie strips where needed.
- Count and inspect sewing.
- Check size requirements.
- Collaborate with Team Lead, Supervisors, and other team members to understand customer requirements.
- Follow all safety guidelines, procedures, and protocols.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Maintain and clean tools and equipment regularly.
- Support production by performing work in any/all areas within the department to ensure team metrics are met/exceeded.
- Follow all work instructions and Lean practices.
- Follow all company policies, rules, and regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Cut and sew zippers.
- Perform finishing tasks such as gluing, grommets, vents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to read a ruler and tape measure.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
