About the Role

The Senior HR Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders, aligning people strategies with organizational goals to drive performance, engagement, and long-term capability. This role bridges HR expertise with business acumen, ensuring that talent, culture, and organizational design decisions directly support business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Advise management on the administration and appropriate application of HR policies, procedures, and standards as well as applicable legislation/regulations.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to people leaders, including members of the Executive Leadership team, in resolving people issues and people management practices.
  • Identify challenges, emerging risks, and issues faced by the organization and recommend solutions.
  • Act as an agent of change, enabling talent building, organizational effectiveness, ongoing development, and cultural transformation.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business units and HR Centers of Excellence to ensure seamless delivery of talent, performance, and engagement initiatives.
  • Coach leaders on effective people management, change leadership, and team development.
  • Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Prepare presentations, present factual reports, and ad hoc information that include measurement to support decision making.
  • Use discretion, utilize effective resource, and expense management principles adhering to corporate financial/procurement policies.
  • Create and champion excellence in customer service standards and delivery with all internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10 plus years’ progressive experience in Human Resources in a unionized environment in a regulatory industry, utility, public sector, or not-for-profit setting.
  • Demonstrated business literacy and consulting skills with demonstrated ability to persuade/influence business leaders.
  • Superior knowledge of relevant provincial and federal legislation, acts and regulations as well as employee and labour relations trends and issues.
  • Knowledge of contemporary human resources practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
