About the Role
The Beauty Stylist drives beauty sales by maximizing demonstration and artistry techniques, focusing on selling the customer what is right for them. They are passionate about the product, thrive in a commissioned sales environment, and are committed to providing excellent one-on-one customer service.
Responsibilities
- Set and achieve sales goals for both in-store and digital selling using selling tools.
- Seek industry trends and product knowledge to maintain expertise.
- Initiate service consultations by asking open-ended questions to understand customer preferences and needs.
- Build lasting customer relationships by following up on purchases, suggesting new products, and inviting them to events.
- Grow sales through appointment-based selling, technology utilization, and opening new Nordstrom Rewards accounts.
- Create in-store events and network in the community.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships within each Beauty brand to identify key focuses and products.
Requirements
- 1+ years of Beauty industry experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization and follow-through.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Handle bulky and sometimes awkwardly shaped items, reaching for and lifting them above the head.
- Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

- Commission varies based on merchandise sold (3% to 14.5% for apparel, shoes, accessories; 3% for Beauty and Men’s Fragrance).
