About the Role

The Designer (Level 3) will join the Community Environments market to oversee all phases of the design process for mixed-use, multi-family, and hotel projects. This role involves leading design teams, managing project deliverables, and ensuring design intent is maintained from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design teams in generating original concepts and design deliverables.
  • Collaborate with architectural and design staff on projects of varying scale.
  • Manage and review construction documents and production efforts.
  • Conduct design research and provide documentation to project teams.
  • Oversee surveys of existing conditions and identify potential risks.
  • Research project materiality and FF&E specifications considering durability, aesthetics, and sustainability.
  • Oversee data collection, project programming, and space planning.
  • Lead design meetings and collaborate with larger project teams.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Generate preliminary project specifications for furniture, fixtures, and finishes.
  • Collaborate with specialists and project managers to finalize specifications.
  • Contribute to Construction Administration, including RFI and submittal reviews.
  • Oversee production of design deliverables for RFP/RFQ responses and marketing proposals.
  • Manage internal and external design resources to ensure quality and profitability.
  • Support design culture and adhere to design rigor standards.
  • Produce work in accordance with project schedules, budgets, and contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, design, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm focusing on brand/commercial interior environments.
  • Experience leading design meetings and overseeing the production of design deliverables.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Detailed knowledge of material selections and outline specifications.
  • Experience with sustainable material sourcing and embodied carbon documentation.
  • Experience with FF&E selections, product research, and documentation.
  • Experience working on mixed-use, multi-family, and hotel design projects.
  • Understanding of merchandising needs in a store environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for professional communications.
