About the Role
Serve as an assistant Football coach, supporting the Head Football coach at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS). This is a 10-month position from July-May every year, with benefits continuing through the summer months. The incumbent will be on LWOP status for two months. The Assistant Football coach, under the guidance of the NAPS Director of Athletics, helps in development and improvement in football of the athletes to include practice planning, in-game support and coaching and training programs. Responsible for oversight and monitoring Coast Guard Academy preparatory candidates assigned to NAPS. Support the NAPS Athletics Director, performing duties assigned such as operations and administrative support. Report back to USCGA Director of Athletics and Director of Admissions (and their designees) on status of USCGA candidates assigned at NAPS on a regular basis. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an assistant Football coach, supporting the Head Football coach at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS).
- Assist in the development and improvement of athletes' football skills through practice planning, in-game support, and training programs.
- Provide oversight and monitoring of Coast Guard Academy preparatory candidates assigned to NAPS.
- Support the NAPS Athletics Director with operations and administrative tasks.
- Report on the status of USCGA candidates assigned at NAPS to USCGA Director of Athletics and Director of Admissions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Collegiate football experience
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Bachelors Degree
- Collegiate or HS football coaching experience
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting athletically talented, academically qualified and diverse student athletes to an academically rigorous institution
- Residency Requirements: Non-U.S. nationals, who are authorized to work in the U.S. and applying for any DHS position, must have resided within the United States, or U.S. territories, for at least three of the last five years.
- Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.
- Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless covered by an exemption under the Selective Service Law, in accordance with 5 U.S. Code 3378. Selectee will be required to provide a written statement regarding his registration status unless he is exempted by this statute.
