About the Role
We are hiring exceptional backend software engineers to architect and build our platform. You'll be among our first engineers, working directly with our Head of Product & Engineering and the CEO to design and implement the core architecture that everything else will be built on. This is a true 0-to-1 opportunity. You'll have enormous influence over our technical decisions, own significant parts of the product, and help define our engineering culture as we grow the team. This role is ideal for someone who loves moving quickly, cares deeply about product quality, and thrives in high-ownership environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and build core systems – APIs, database architecture, infrastructure, and data pipelines – while optimizing for performance and maintainability.
- Own entire features end-to-end, from talking to users and stakeholders to writing specs, understanding strategy, and shipping to production.
- Work on real-world problems that directly improve patient care.
- Ship constantly and learn from real users.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience building and shipping production systems with modern backend technologies: cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), databases (Postgres/MySQL, DynamoDB, Spanner, or similar), APIs, data pipelines (Airflow, Dagster, or similar), and modern languages (Python, Golang, Java/Kotlin, or similar).
- Track record of taking ownership and startup mentality: You've built something meaningful from scratch – led projects, started a company, built a side project, or worked at an early-stage startup. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and care about solving real problems with unfailing attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills: You can write clearly and make persuasive technical arguments.
- This role may handle PHI/PII and must follow HIPAA, company privacy policies, and least-privilege access practices.
