About the Role

Southwest Housing Compliance Corporation (SHCC) is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to support payment processing and compliance efforts in a fast-paced, accuracy-driven environment. SHCC has served the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a Contract Administrator for over 24 years, supporting over 80,000 households across Texas and Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  • Review monthly Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) vouchers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HUD regulations.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies before processing payments.
  • Cross-check tenant certification data with voucher line items and investigate inconsistencies.
  • Communicate clearly with O/As to resolve issues.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for O/As regarding payment and compliance questions.
  • Provide clear, courteous, and professional support via phone and email.
  • Create and maintain accurate digital and physical records of payment processing actions, correspondence, and resolutions.
  • Enter case information into SHCC's proprietary STARS system for tracking, routing, and reporting.
  • Maintain updated status notes and ensure all workflow steps are completed accurately and timely.
  • Help ensure all payment and reconciliation processes adhere to HUD policies and SHCC's quality assurance protocols.
  • Escalate noncompliance issues as needed to senior staff.
  • Manage a consistent monthly workflow tied to strict internal and external deadlines.
  • Proactively organize tasks to ensure HUD payment deadlines are met without errors or delays.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide compassionate and professional customer service to clientele of diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of standard bookkeeping principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of HUD programs, regulatory compliance, and the affordable housing industry.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Must possess a Texas Driver's License.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check, including a sex offender registry check.
  • Must pass a Driving Record check.
  • Must pass a Physical/Drug Screening upon offer of employment.

Skills

  • Strong computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, Emphasys ELITE, and Laserfiche)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish, cultivate, and maintain effective working relationships with external partners, clients, and coworkers.

  • $22.78/hour
