About the Role

As a mobile engineer at General Medicine, you'll help build and scale a healthcare store that makes it delightfully simple to shop for any type of care. We provide upfront cash and insurance prices for virtual and in-person visits, prescriptions, labs, imaging, and more.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale a healthcare store.
• Build our first native mobile app using React Native.
• Stand up the mobile app from scratch.
• Make key architectural decisions for the mobile app.
• Set the patterns for mobile app development.
• Work on our Next.js web frontend.
• Write product requirements documents.
• Write SQL to understand feature performance.
• Own QA.
• Operate in an environment of significant ambiguity.
• Work closely with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders.
• Dig into the complexities of the American healthcare system.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building mobile apps.
• Meaningful production experience in React Native.
• Strong understanding of native iOS and/or Android development (Swift, Kotlin).
• Comfortable with Swift or Kotlin when needed.
• Experience with Expo, including build tooling, OTA updates, and native module configuration.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React.
• Experience architecting shared code between mobile and web codebases (or a strong opinion on how to do it well).
• Familiarity with modern backend frameworks is a plus.
• Must be willing to work on our Next.js web frontend.
• Must be comfortable moving quickly.
• Must be hungry, high-agency, and aspire to be a generalist.
• Must be comfortable working closely with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders.
• Must be excited by the prospect of digging into the complexities of the American healthcare system.
