About the Role
We are looking for a Freelance Senior Designer to support our Menswear Design team. This role involves developing innovative, commercial collections for UK and European markets, collaborating with buying teams to deliver directional, fast-react products.
Responsibilities
- Develop an innovative, yet commercial range that meets business requirements across the UK and Europe for stores and online.
- Design a complete range demonstrating awareness of price architecture, margin expectation, competitive RRPs, and covering seasonal fashion and core callouts.
- Create seasonal trend stories with senior design team members, following specific brand sensibilities, color palettes, print direction, and departmental key items.
- React quickly to evolving trends and communicate this effectively to buying and merchandising teams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of high fashion trends, underground street styles, and wider cultural movements.
- Build strong working relationships with buying teams for a collaborative approach to defining and producing collections that reflect the Urban Outfitters concept while ensuring commerciality.
- Keep abreast of current season sales and create fast-react in-season product to meet demands.
Requirements
- Understanding of Urban Outfitters as a trend maker and leader with the know-how to take it to the next level.
- Portfolio should be directional and aspirational, demonstrating ability to interpret 'blue-sky' thinking into a well-rounded, commercial range relevant to the current marketplace.
- Hand-drawing is a non-negotiable skill.
- Precision and accuracy must be shown from concept stage through to specs and final designs.
- Proficient CAD – Illustrator/Photoshop skills.
- A love, unwavering passion, and drive for the chosen field.
- Individuality, creativity, and style.
- Proven track record of delivering in-season product.
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to manage workloads and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to identify new opportunities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills at all levels.
- Strong experience working with a global supply base.
- Willingness/openness to global travel.
