About the Role

Arcadis is seeking a Senior or Intermediate Structural Design Engineer to join the growing team in Toronto West, Ontario. The successful individual will manage projects for new or existing transportation, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes. Responsibilities include performing structural analysis, inspections, and coordinating with global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural analysis & design of structures and the preparation of drawings and specifications
  • Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
  • Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc…)
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
  • Reviewing & responding to submittals (RFI’s, Shop Drawings, etc…) during CA phase of projects
  • Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer’s work
  • Mentorship to Jr. Engineers
  • Perform QA/QC activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • 4-12 years experience in structural design
  • Registered P. Eng in Ontario Province
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
  • Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
  • Project experience on City of Toronto and TTC projects will be an asset
  • Ability to lead teams consisting of multiple engineers and CAD staff
  • Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
  • Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with a strong ability to lead the structural design of projects
  • Demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the team
  • Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
  • Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)
