About the Role

We are searching for a new Line Underwriter to take the reins of our Rest of World (ROW) Kidnap and Ransom (K&R) business. This role offers the chance to lead and expand a core portfolio, aiming to grow the account to over $50 million in premium, drive digital transformation, and launch significant adjacent initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strong business leader with credibility, passion for advancing this class, and the ability to shape both the portfolio and the team.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver the vision, strategy and business plan for the Line.
Own and manage the P&L for Hiscox London Market.
Lead and develop a market leading team of underwriters.
Development and management of key senior level relationships with brokers, coverholders, Control Risk, Great American and key clients.
Source opportunities and deals that bring significant value to Hiscox.
Maintain and further develop a world class lead position in the area, with substantial market presence and capacity.
Work closely with the Crisis Management pricing and exposure management teams to manage exposures and maximise returns.
Manage the portfolio ensuring decisions align with risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
Help to shape the overall strategy and deliver the Crisis Management Division plan.

Requirements

Ability to lead and develop a market leading underwriting team, including prioritizing and delegating work and managing effectively and accurately under pressure.
Proven track record in relationship management and business development at a senior level.
Technical underwriting ability to analyze risk and optimal strategy for profitable underwriting management.
Digital agility and drive, embracing augmented underwriting and other future advancements in technology.
Experience dealing with internal and external senior management, delivering messages effectively that lead to action.
Strong analytical capabilities to assess risks and demonstrate accurate judgment.
Ability to work effectively with and maximize the benefits of our Claims, Pricing and Exposure Management teams.
Adaptable and agile in thought, capable of thinking about things in a different way and identifying new approaches and concepts.
A team player who fosters a culture of collaboration and cultivates innovation.
Decisive in nature, displaying good judgment in decisions and taking accountability.
Possesses a strategic mindset, with experience in translating future possibilities into groundbreaking strategies.
Willingness to travel internationally as required and attend evening business social events as appropriate.
