About the Role
Deutsche Bank Technology is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to join their growing Berlin tech center. This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and executing data- and AI-driven innovation projects, with a specific emphasis on driving AI Agent initiatives. You will lead technical teams, design and build high-quality software products leveraging AI Agents, and act as a trusted advisor.
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-quality software products that use AI Agents and other advanced data-driven technologies.
- Practice hands-on and servant technical leadership, enabling, supporting, and guiding your team of engineers.
- Stay close to the code and jump in to solve the hardest problems.
- Be responsible for the technical delivery of innovation projects.
- Act as a trusted advisor to your team and the bank.
- Work in a cross-functional team using technical expertise to identify, evaluate and execute data- and AI-driven innovation projects.
- Contribute to identifying and evaluating applications of these technologies by providing technical insight.
- Communicate technical concepts and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Measure success by the business value your solutions generate.
Requirements
- University degree in a technical or quantitative field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, physics, economics, etc.), preferably a Master’s or Doctoral degree.
- Several years of experience in applying AI, machine learning and/or data science in business and/or academia.
- Several years of experience in leading technical teams that develop high-quality, production-grade software.
- Strong knowledge of Python and ideally one other programming language.
- Knowledge of relevant AI, Agentic or engineering frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Google ADK, etc.).
- Knowledge of GCP or another major cloud platform.
- Live and breathe principles of good engineering, architecture and professional software development.
- Experience building solutions that leverage LLMs.
- Comfortable working with and managing uncertainty, ambiguity and different levels of stakeholders.
- Comfortable presenting the pros and cons of a new architecture to senior management.
- Comfortable debugging a cryptic error message with your team.
