About the Role

ACCA is seeking a Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) - Policy and Research Lead to join the Policy & Insights team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality research and thought leadership on key issues, enhancing ACCA's influence in policy and regulatory environments, and positioning ACCA as a global leader in the accountancy profession.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ACCA’s SME and SMP thought leadership, research, and policy engagement globally to build ACCA’s global brand, profile, and reputation.
  • Develop an innovative plan of global research, thought leadership, and engagement opportunities impacting professional accountants and finance professionals in SMEs and SMPs.
  • Monitor competitor activities in thought leadership, research, and policy engagement, adapting ACCA’s approach as necessary.
  • Act as ACCA’s lead representative and spokesperson for SME and SMP research and policy activities.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key senior-level policy experts.
  • Provide technical expertise and lead on regional and global digital SME and SMP policy and research initiatives.
  • Promote the interests of Small and Medium Sized Practices and the role of accountants in supporting SMEs through research and thought leadership.
  • Lead ACCA’s Global SME Forum.
  • Build and lead ACCA’s key external relationships and network in the SME and SMP space from a research and policy perspective.
  • Collaborate with the Policy and Insights team and other internal stakeholders to ensure maximum external stakeholder and member engagement.
  • Motivate and support colleagues across the organization to enable the delivery of ACCA’s wider research priorities.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of key issues facing SMEs and SMPs.
  • Good understanding of the role of accountants in smaller businesses and accounting firms.
  • Existing network, preferably across the Small and Medium Sized Accountancy Practice (SMP) space.
  • Experience and confidence in external speaking activities, preferably in the SME or SMP area.
  • Strong track record in delivering thought leadership, research, and policy engagement.
  • Proactive project management skills in delivering research activities.
  • Outstanding networking and influencing skills.
  • Global perspective and strong cultural awareness.
