About the Role
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s transformation into a mobility company. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to manage and oversee the development of hydrogen-related software products and lead customer acquisition. This role involves managing product development from roadmap creation to feature prioritization and ensuring on-time development, while leading a team of software engineers and data analysts. You will also support product deployment, gather data and user feedback, and lead communications with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Work as a team with software engineers, data analysts/engineers and provide product owner expertise to correctly communicate software requirements to the development team and ensure the release of high-quality software that meet customer needs
- Work with stakeholders to define hypotheses, make functional and nonfunctional requirements, set high-level schedules and milestones, coordinate user testing or proof of concept to evaluate and refine the service, identify risks, communicate with cross-functional partners both across the company and externally, and release a product
- Visualize progress, and report and demonstrate to colleagues outside the team and external stakeholders
- Define and oversee product roadmap, feature development prioritization, and strategy with relevant stakeholders based on understanding of key market dynamics and customer pain points
- Identify target customers and initiate conversations, support customer acquisition including sales discussions, and lead POC/ project development ensuring good customer experience throughout
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree ideally in a STEM related field
- 3-5+ years professional experience in project management/product owner roles with software engineers, for several different projects
- 3-5+ years professional experience in sales, customer acquisition, and/or market creation for different products
- Familiarity with software development processes, typical timelines, and professional documentation creation (e.g., product roadmaps, business requirement documents, product requirement documents etc.)
- Familiarity and background in software (e.g., SQL/python/coding ability) to support QC of software product developments timelines
- Native/Business-level Japanese and English language proficiency
- Familiarity with Japan energy, manufacturing, transportation, and related industries
- Knowledge of broader hydrogen market from key hydrogen production and transport methods
- Knowledge of automotive sector including gas stations, H2 refueling stations, and FCEVs
- Experience in multiple areas of software development (i.e. Backend, Frontend, Mobile, Infra)
- Experience working in environments with employees from different backgrounds and cultures
- Professional working experience for security, data privacy, safety, patent, risk management
- Ambition and positive attitude to learn software development
- Startup or new business development experience
- Experience working within a cloud environment (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure etc.)
- Experience working with UI/UX designers to help define product direction, capability to define the detailed UI design with Figma, AdobeXD or Web design and application design tools similar to those
